Scheduled Hours 40 Position Summary The Director of Audio Visual, Media Services, and Event Production oversees a dynamic, entrepreneurial, customer-service-oriented team that provides multi-media technology and event production support to Washington University faculty, staff, students, and clinics. This role sets the strategic direction, manages financial sustainability, evaluates and implements new technologies, and ensures top-quality service delivery across the University in audio-visual and event production. Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities Leadership & Management Provide overall leadership and direction to a team of professionals, part-time staff, and student employees. Manage team members' performance, mentorship, and development to meet evolving technology and service needs. Financial & Revenue Management Develop and implement a strategic and financial plan for AV, media services, and event production, focusing on revenue generation, cost efficiency, and economic sustainability. Implement billing models for various services and manage vendor relationships and contracts. Track, analyze, and report on revenue streams and key financial metrics. Strategic Planning & Technology Management Collaborate with university administration and stakeholders to define AV, media, and event production needs for both current and future projects. Evaluate, select, and implement new AV and event production standards, tools, and technologies. Oversee standards-based room design projects, specifically for classrooms, conference rooms, interactive collaboration spaces, instructional laboratories, and private offices, and lead the implementation of A/V systems, digital signage, web streaming, and lecture capture technologies. Service Owner for campus enterprise solutions for video conferencing (Zoom), digital signage (Popullo/FourWinds), and CATV/IPTV (Apogee/Dish). Event Production Manage all aspects of event production, including A/V support, logistics, staffing, and coordination with university departments and external vendors. Ensure successful execution of high-profile events such as commencement ceremonies, conferences, and VIP visits. Customer Service & Operational Excellence Oversee all support services related to A/V consulting for classrooms, conference rooms, interactive collaboration spaces, instructional laboratories, private offices, CATV/IPTV, digital signage, event capture, and Zoom video conferencing. Maintain service standards and billing transparency to ensure excellent customer experience. Monitor and report on key performance metrics to ensure efficient departmental operations. Communication & Collaboration Serve as the liaison between the department and university stakeholders, including faculty, administration, and other departments. Facilitate effective communication with vendors and external partners. Working Conditions This is an on-site position, Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with evening and weekend support flexibility per Service Level Expectation (SLE) guidelines. Preferred Qualifications Masters degree in relevant discipline. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in media technology, Information Systems, or a related field and minimum of eight years of experience in audio-visual technology, media services, and event production, with at least three years in a leadership role and/or a combination of relevant education and experience. Exceptional customer service skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Technological proficiency in A/V systems, digital media, web conferencing, etc. Budget and financial management experience, including revenue tracking and billing. Grade G16 Salary Range $94,100.00 - $165,600.00 / Annually The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
